Running into Stiles has been a bit disorienting for Malia as well, given that while they've been apart for a year, for him they had just broken up. She isn't really sure what it means in the context of Cadelle or in the context of their relationship, but they seem to have settled for not talking about it, so for now, the issue has been put to bed.
What she isn't expecting, however, is Scott at her door in the middle of the night. The knock drags her from a dead sleep, and she is prepared to be very grumpy at whoever it is, but she drags herself out of bed and makes her way to the door, not even bothering to check who it is before she opened it. The only friends she has who would come over in the middle of the night and not just let themselves in are Scott or Derek.
And it's Scott. She's about to ask him what's wrong - because if he's waking her up, something clearly has to be wrong - but before she can manage to form the words, he's stepping in and kissing her.
Scott is kissing her.
If she were more awake and more aware she probably would have stopped and asked questions. She would have given herself the time for confusion and processing and confirming, but instead she kisses him back on instinct, melting into something that she has wanted for so long. They had spent so many months dancing around whatever this thing is between them and now that they're actually doing something about it, she's not going to bother to stop him.
She's good with kissing for a bit, but eventually she becomes conscious enough to realize that they're still standing in her doorway, and she takes a step back, hoping he'll follow her.
